Booking
Are these official tickets?
Yes. We purchase genuine official tickets from PT Taman Wisata Candi's booking system on your behalf. The ticket you receive is identical to one purchased directly — it carries the same QR code, validity, and is scanned at the same gate.
Why book through you instead of directly?
The official site is in Indonesian, prices in IDR, and the booking window and system can be confusing for international visitors. We handle the entire process — including ticket purchasing, availability monitoring, and confirmation — and deliver everything clearly in English with pricing in your local currency. We charge a service margin for this convenience.
How far in advance can I book?
You can book as far ahead as you like. We recommend booking sunrise and sunset experiences 3–4 weeks ahead during peak season (June–August, December) and 1–2 weeks ahead during quieter periods. You can book right up until the day of your visit — there is no minimum advance booking requirement.
How many tickets can I book at once?
Up to 10 tickets per booking. For groups larger than 10, please contact us directly at [email protected] and we'll arrange this manually.
Do you offer child pricing?
Children under 3 enter free and do not require a ticket. Children aged 3–10 receive a 50% discount on Temple Structure tickets — contact us to arrange child pricing. Sunrise and Sunset experiences do not offer child discounts; all guests pay the same rate.
Name & Identity
Does my name need to match my passport?
Yes — exactly. The name you enter at checkout is the name printed on your official ticket, and staff check this against your passport at the entry gate. Enter your name precisely as it appears on your passport, including any middle names. Even minor discrepancies can result in denial of entry. If you realise you have entered the wrong name after booking, contact us immediately at [email protected].
Why do you need my gender and nationality?
The official Borobudur ticketing system requires gender and nationality for all foreign visitors. We collect this at checkout so we can purchase your official ticket without any further steps required from you.
Is my personal data secure?
Your name, gender, and nationality are used solely to purchase your official ticket and are deleted from our systems within 30 days of your visit date. We do not share your data with third parties beyond PT Taman Wisata Candi's booking system. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
The Experiences
What time does sunrise begin?
Temple access for sunrise begins at 04:30, with most visitors arriving by 04:00 to prepare. If staying in Yogyakarta, you need to leave by approximately 03:00 AM for the 90-minute drive. We strongly recommend staying in Borobudur village the night before to remove all timing pressure.
What happens if it's cloudy at sunrise?
The experience runs regardless of weather. On overcast mornings, the atmosphere on the upper terraces — the silence, the mist, the scale of the structure — remains genuinely extraordinary. Refunds are not available for weather conditions.
Is the Sunrise + Sunset Pack two separate days?
No — the pack is designed as a single full day. You attend sunrise at 04:00 and sunset at 16:00 on the same date. You receive two separate confirmation tickets. The full day at Borobudur between sessions, exploring the grounds, museums, and surrounding area, is part of the experience.
Can I photograph inside the temple?
Yes — personal photography is welcome at Borobudur, both on the temple grounds and on the upper terraces. Drones are not permitted. This is based on the 2026 ticket terms and official site rules.
Is the Temple Structure open on Mondays?
Yes — as of July 2025, the Temple Structure is open every day of the week. Previously closed Mondays for conservation, this has now changed. The Sunrise and Sunset experiences are also available every day including Mondays.
Cancellations & Refunds
What is your cancellation policy?
All sales are final. The moment you confirm a booking, we purchase your official tickets directly from PT Taman Wisata Candi. Those tickets are issued in your name for a specific date and the operator does not take them back — so we cannot offer refunds or date changes.
The one exception: if we cannot secure your tickets for any reason, we refund you in full within 24 hours. You don't need to do anything — the refund is automatic.

What if you can't get my tickets?
If for any reason we cannot secure your tickets — sold out date, system issues, or any other problem — you receive a full refund of your payment within 24 hours. This is our guarantee.
Can I change my visit date after booking?
Official tickets are non-transferable to a different date. To change your date, cancel your existing booking (subject to our cancellation policy) and place a new booking for your preferred date. Contact us and we'll help make this as smooth as possible.
