Forty minutes east of Borobudur, the spires of Prambanan rise from the Kedu Plain like nothing else in Southeast Asia. Three towers — 47 metres tall, carved with the entire Ramayana epic in stone — surrounded by 240 smaller shrines. Most visitors to Yogyakarta choose between Borobudur and Prambanan. The ones who do both say Prambanan was the surprise of their trip.

Where is Prambanan?

Prambanan is located 17km east of central Yogyakarta, approximately 90 minutes by car. It is easily combined with a Borobudur visit on the same day — most visitors do Borobudur in the morning and Prambanan in the afternoon.

How long does a visit take?

Allow 2–3 hours for a full guided visit of the main compound and the three Trimurti temples. The site is large — comfortable shoes are essential.

What is the best time to visit?

Early morning (opening, around 06:30) or late afternoon are cooler and less crowded. Midday in dry season can be very hot on the open grounds. Sunrise and sunset visits offer spectacular light on the stone spires.

What is the cancellation policy?

All sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable once we have purchased them on your behalf. The only exception is if we cannot secure your tickets, in which case we refund you in full within 24 hours.

Does my name need to match my passport?

Yes — exactly. The name you enter at checkout is printed on your official ticket, and staff check this against your passport at entry. Enter your name precisely as it appears on your passport. If you make a mistake, contact us immediately at [email protected] before your visit.

Is Prambanan close to Borobudur?

Yes — approximately 90 minutes by car. Many visitors book a private transfer that covers both sites in a single day. If you have already booked Borobudur with us, reply to your confirmation email and we can arrange a combined transfer.
