“We were on the upper terrace well before the crowds and had the whole thing almost to ourselves for the first golden hour. The Manohara meeting point was easy to find; the electric shuttle saved us a long pre-dawn walk. Book this. Don't overthink it.”

About Borobudur Temple

Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist monument and one of the great religious structures of the ancient world. Built in the 9th century under the Sailendra dynasty of Central Java, the temple consists of nine stacked terraces — six square, three circular — crowned by a central stupa, and is carved with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. UNESCO inscribed it as a World Heritage Site in 1991 under cultural criteria i, ii, and vi, recognising it as a masterpiece of Buddhist art and architecture and a unique testimony to Javanese civilisation.

Borobudur Ticket Concierge is an independent booking service that handles the complexity of securing official tickets from PT Taman Wisata Candi on your behalf. We exist because the official booking process — while improving — can be confusing for international visitors navigating an Indonesian-language system, IDR pricing, and a limited booking window. We purchase your official tickets directly, deliver the same genuine e-ticket you would receive booking direct, and handle availability, gate-procedure guidance, and English-language support throughout.

We are honest about what we are: a facilitator service, not the official operator. Our pricing includes a service margin above the official ticket price — you are paying for convenience, language access, and a guaranteed fulfilment process managed by people who know the Goers and PT Taman Wisata Candi system well. In the rare event we are unable to secure your tickets from the operator, a full refund is issued within 24 hours. Every booking is confirmed within 2 hours during business hours.

About our service

Borobudur Ticket Concierge is an independent booking service for international visitors to Borobudur Temple. We facilitate purchases from PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko — the official operator — on your behalf, managing the Bahasa Indonesia booking portal in English and delivering your dated ticket by email within 2 hours. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to PT Taman Wisata Candi or InJourney Destinations. We do not resell tickets. Our concierge service fee is included in the displayed price. If you read Bahasa Indonesia and prefer to book direct, the official portal is ticket.borobudurpark.com.

Frequently asked

Are these official tickets?

Yes. We purchase genuine official tickets from PT Taman Wisata Candi's booking system on your behalf. The ticket you receive is identical to one purchased directly — it carries the same QR code, validity, and is scanned at the same gate.

Why book through you instead of directly?

The official site is in Indonesian, prices in IDR, and the booking window and system can be confusing for international visitors. We handle the entire process — including ticket purchasing, availability monitoring, and confirmation — and deliver everything in English with pricing in your local currency, plus the 24-hour refund guarantee if we can't secure your slot. The price you see at checkout is the total — no surprise fees at the gate.

Where do I meet for the Sunrise experience?

All visitors meet at the Manohara Borobudur Cultural Center (Gate 7) — the central arrivals point for every Borobudur ticket. Temple access begins at 04:30; most visitors arrive by 04:00 to prepare. Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BsWm39MBoc8sdSiEA

What happens if it's cloudy at sunrise?

The experience runs regardless of weather. On overcast mornings the atmosphere on the upper terraces — the silence, the mist, the scale of the structure — remains genuinely extraordinary. Refunds are not available for weather conditions.

Is the Sunrise + Sunset Pack one day or two?

One single day. You attend sunrise at 04:30 and sunset in the late afternoon on the same date. The full day in between is yours to explore the grounds, museums, and surrounding village. Pricing saves 10% vs booking sunrise and sunset separately.

What is the Temple Structure ticket?

Access to climb all nine terraces of Borobudur with a licensed Pamong Carita guide. Visits are divided into 8 daily 90-minute sessions from 08:30 to 15:30, capacity-managed by the Visitor Flow Management System. You choose your session at booking.

Is the Temple Structure open every day?

Yes. As of July 2025, the Temple Structure is open every day of the week including Mondays. Operational hours are 08:00 to 16:00 WIB.

Can I photograph inside the temple?

Yes — personal photography is welcome at Borobudur, both on the temple grounds and on the upper terraces. Drones are not permitted. Tripods and large telephoto lenses require prior authorisation.

Does my name need to match my passport?

Yes — exactly. The name you enter at checkout is printed on your official ticket, and staff may check this against your passport at entry. Enter your name precisely as it appears in your passport, including any middle names. Bring photo ID on the day.

What is your cancellation policy?

All sales are final. The moment you confirm a booking, we purchase your official tickets directly from PT Taman Wisata Candi. Those tickets are issued in your name for a specific date and the operator does not take them back — so we cannot offer refunds or date changes. The one exception: in the rare event we are unable to secure your tickets from the operator, a full refund is issued within 24 hours.

Can I change my visit date after booking?

Official tickets are non-transferable to a different date. If your plans change, email bookings@borobudurtickets.net immediately — we'll do what we can to help, though a refund or date change cannot be guaranteed.

Do children need a ticket?

Children under 3 enter free. Children aged 3–10 receive a 50% discount on Temple Structure tickets — contact us to arrange child pricing. Sunrise and Sunset experiences are full price for all ages.

How long should I allow for a visit?

Sunrise: ~3 hours including breakfast. Temple Structure climb: 90-minute session plus 2–3 hours for grounds and museums. Sunset: ~3.5 hours including dinner. Allow a full day if combining Sunrise + Sunset (the Pack).

Can I visit both Borobudur and Prambanan in one day?

Yes, many international visitors do this independently. The two UNESCO sites are about 40 km apart (roughly 90 minutes by car), and most travellers in Yogyakarta hire a private driver for the day to cover both. We handle Borobudur tickets only. Prambanan has its own concierge service at prambanantickets.com if you'd like to book that separately.

What should I wear?

Modest dress — shoulders and knees covered. Light, breathable clothing as it gets very hot by mid-morning. Comfortable walking shoes for the grounds. Toe socks recommended for the Upanat sandals. Sunhat and sunscreen for daytime visits. A warm layer for sunrise — 4:00 AM at altitude can be cool.
